Duties and Responsibilities for Vehicle Body Builder

Assembling Vehicle Bodies:
Build and assemble vehicle bodies and components according to technical drawings and design specifications. -
Repair and Modification:
Repair and restore damaged or worn vehicle bodies, frames, and structural components.
Perform modifications to vehicles to meet customer or industry-specific requirements. -
Fabrication Work:
Manufacture and fabricate vehicle body parts and components using various materials such as steel, aluminum, and fiberglass. -
Technical Diagnostics:
Identify and diagnose structural and mechanical issues using technical drawings and tools.
Recommend solutions and provide accurate estimates for repairs or modifications. -
Tool Operation:
Operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to perform body repairs, fittings, and fabrications. -
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to Australian Design Rules (ADR), Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), and other relevant safety standards and regulations.
Conduct regular safety inspections of tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a hazard-free environment. -
Welding and Cutting:
Perform welding, cutting, and grinding tasks to shape and join vehicle body components. -
Maintenance of Equipment:
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, ensuring proper use and regular servicing. -
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers, designers, and other technicians to ensure vehicles meet customer specifications and industry standards. -
Documentation and Reporting:
Keep records of repair work, modifications, and parts used.
Provide reports on job progress, materials needed, and completion timelines. -
Quality Control:
Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and client expectations.
Perform test fittings and adjustments to confirm proper alignment and functionality. -
Client Interaction:
Communicate with clients to understand their specific needs and provide professional advice on bodywork solutions.
