Site Supervisor

Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Site Supervisor to oversee day-to-day construction site operations while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in full accordance with plans and specifications. This role acts as the company’s on-site representative and requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and disciplined organisation.

The Site Supervisor will coordinate trades, maintain site documentation, ensure WHS compliance, manage client interactions, and uphold exceptional quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project & Site Management

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure work is carried out according to plans, engineering requirements, and project scope.
  • Develop daily action plans, allocate tasks, and coordinate all subcontractors on-site.
  • Review and maintain key project documents including contracts, drawings, schedules, and client selections.
  • Maintain a detailed site diary, photo log, Gantt chart, and call-forward sheets.
  • Prepare and update weekly progress reports and submit to management.

2. Pre-Start Preparation

  • Review all project documentation and clarify outstanding details prior to commencement.
  • Prepare and maintain the Supervisor File containing plans, schedules, variations, and essential paperwork.
  • Establish build schedules and confirm contractor availability ahead of time.

3. Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)

  • Enforce WHS policies, including induction compliance and safe work practices.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and maintain all safety records.
  • Ensure PPE use, equipment tagging, scaffolding compliance, and overall site cleanliness.
  • Maintain and update the Risk Register; report all incidents immediately.

4. Subcontractor Coordination

  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to building codes, WHS regulations, schedules, and agreed standards.
  • Confirm all subcontractor insurances and agreements remain current.
  • Maintain accurate records of trade call-ups and follow up on commitments.

5. Client Interaction

  • Communicate professionally and promptly with clients to manage expectations.
  • Provide clear updates on site progress and address queries respectfully.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to support satisfaction and project success.

6. Variations & Documentation Control

  • Ensure no variation proceeds without written client approval.
  • Submit all variation requests to management for authorization.
  • Maintain accurate records of all approved variations.

7. Handover Management

  • Notify management at least two weeks before handover readiness.
  • Ensure site completion, cleanliness, rectification of defects, and compilation of manuals and certificates.
  • Participate in handover walkthroughs with the General Manager and client.
  • Finalize all project documentation and advise clients on post-handover requirements (e.g., property insurance).

Key Deliverables

End of Project: Full handover checklist and completion documentation.

Daily: Pre-start agenda, attendance sheets, site diary, safety notes.

Weekly: Progress photos, Risk Register updates, site inspections, progress reports.

Ongoing: Client communication and defect management.
