Personal Care Assistants (PCA)

Our client is seeking individuals for a role focused on providing routine personal care services in various health care facilities or in the homes of individuals. 
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The primary duties involve assisting patients with personal care needs such as showering, dressing, and eating.
  • Candidates will also help patients with their mobility and communication requirements.
  • Participation in the planning of individual care is an essential aspect of the role.
  • Implementing therapy plans, especially for individuals with dementia and behavioural issues, forms part of the responsibilities.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in patients' conditions, as well as any complaints regarding care, are crucial tasks. 
  • Assisting with rehabilitation exercises, basic treatments, and the administration of medications are also included.
  • The role requires providing direct support and assistance to therapists. 

 

English Language Proficiency:

  • An overall IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent is required, with minimum individual band scores of 5.0 in Speaking and Listening, and 4.5 in Reading and Writing.
  • Some applicants may be exempt from the English language proficiency requirement. Details regarding exemptions can be found on the "English Language Requirements" page. 

 

Educational and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • Skills commensurate with an AQF Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4) are required. 
  • In certain cases, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be necessary in addition to formal qualifications. 

Note: Some positions within this occupation are at ANZSCO Skill Level 3. 
 

Skill Assessment:

  • Qualifications and/or experience must be assessed and certified by a relevant skill assessing authority to ensure alignment with the standards of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
