About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Crane Mechanic to join a leading team specialising in the service, repair, inspection, certification, installation, and troubleshooting of truck-mounted cranes, marine cranes, and lifting equipment. This role offers the opportunity to work with premium crane brands and deliver high-quality mechanical solutions across a diverse range of equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain truck-mounted cranes, marine cranes, and lifting equipment.
• Perform fault finding and mechanical troubleshooting on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Conduct inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
• Install and commission crane components and associated equipment.
• Carry out repairs and overhauls on hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, and lifting mechanisms.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Work collaboratively with the workshop and field service teams to minimise equipment downtime.

Qualifications and Experience

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic, Mechanical Technician, or equivalent.
• Proven experience servicing and repairing truck-mounted cranes, marine cranes, or heavy lifting equipment.
• Strong hydraulic and mechanical diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and service manuals.
• Experience with preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s licence (HR licence advantageous).

Desirable Skills

• Experience with hydraulic systems and electrical fault finding.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Experience in field service and emergency breakdown response.
• Familiarity with load testing, inspection, and certification requirements.
• Exposure to multiple crane brands and lifting equipment manufacturers.
